1. Running my pistol as a primary in CQB

When I’m playing CQB I quite enjoy going pistol only, and it turns out at the Bristol Airsoft Courtrooms you can get away with running a pistol as your primary weapon.

I love running my pistol as it has a good weight to it, and there’s nothing like firing a gas blowback. When I run it as my primary here’s my setup.

I run a KWA G17, with a Shooters Glock 17C metal slide and a Madbull Python barrel. I haven’t got any other modifications to the pistol at the moment as I am very happy with how it shoots. On the G17’s rail I have G&P M3 style tac light, much needed for the dark lower floor at the courtrooms.

The main things you need to consider when running a gas pistol as a primary is gas & ammo. A majority of the time I use propane due to the colder weather, but I always have a can of Abbey Predator gas for when it’s hot, as my pistol does run a high FPS in hot weather. It’s been crono’d at 520 odd FPS for the first 5 rounds in 25Âșc heat.

Ammo wise, I have 4 standard capacity magazines & 1 extended mag giving me 90 rounds to play with. I carry 1 mags on my chest rig, and 3 on my belt in moulded pouches for quick reloads in a fire fight. I’ll always run the 50 round extended mag first. To valuable items I also carry is a speed loader of extra BBs, and an Airsoft Innovations Gas Can just in case I run out of ammo, or my pistol vents.

Running a pistol as a primary also gets you in the habit of being more reserved with your shots. The last few times I’ve played outdoors with my M4, I rarely got through one of my madcaps in the games, but still racked up the kills and finished the games alive.

I definitely recommend trying it out, as it does help develop the way you play.
