1. CQB Load Out

Over the last few years I played around a lot with kit for airsoft. I’ve spent a lot on accessories that I’ve only used a few times, had have gone from carrying lots of gear to a bare minimum.

I’ve playing a lot of CQB over the last 12 months and every couple of game days I’ve made changes to my load out, until I’ve got to where I am now with it, simple, light weight and only carrying what I need for each game.

I’ve been through basic viper vests, a posh 5.11 LBV, replica body armour, belt kits, thigh holsters and leg rigs. All I really got out of them was a hole in my wallet. Set ups like those generally end up with carrying loads of crap you don’t need, end up being bulky, snagging on things and restricting movement.

After all that kit, I’m now using a simple 5.11 molle chest rig which set me back about £20, with two pairs of double stacked M16 mag pouches to carry my MP7 or M4 mags and two tornado grenades. It sits up on my chest and doesn’t restrict movement at all.

To prevent things flapping around my legs and getting caught on fences, barricades and doorways, I run a Blackhawk Serpa on my hip for my pistol, 3 moulded pistol mag pouches and a dump pouch.

As much as I like different camos, BDUs can be a huge drain on the finances, most of the time I just end up wearing jeans and a dark, or green t-shirt - occasionally a tac shirt. At the end of the day the camo doesn’t really make that much difference in a CQB environment.

I really just try and keep my CQB load out small, simple and functional. It give me one less thing to think about when moving around the darkened corridors.
